Azienda Agricola Serragia, run by father and son Gabrio Bini, is located on the volcanic island of Pantelleria, 100 kilometres south-west of Sicily. Gabrio Bini and his son Giotto, who call themselves 'Vignerons de pere en fils' (farmers/winemakers from father to son), continue to shed light on truly supernova-like natural wines and have become cult icons respected worldwide.A renowned architect from Florence, Gabrio has long been based in Milan, but has always been a passionate natural wine enthusiast: in the late 1990s, Gabrio fell under the spell of the beautiful Mediterranean Sea in Pantelleria, first growing capers, and then naturally venturing into the world of wine. He began his adventure.

Gabrio's grapes come from old vines planted on ancient terraces on the island's volcanic soils. Higher than the other vineyards, Serraggia enjoys cool sea breezes and surprisingly mild temperatures, even in mid-summer. With just over 5 hectares of vineyards, their winemaking philosophy is so pure that the vineyards are untouched and untreated with copper or sulphur, and the vineyards are tended by hand and two horses. The average age of the vines is 50 years, with some plots over 100 years old, and are grown using the ancient 'alberello pantesco' method, which was developed to withstand the violent winds of the island. The grapes are hand-picked and left to ferment slowly and naturally in terracotta amphorae of various ages and sizes, made in Spain, buried in the ground. The wine is then bottled unfined, unfiltered and without additives.
